Source, the digital lifestyle company, has launched a new app platform with the aim of saving hotels 30% on the cost of fulfilling room service and concierge requests.
With the ability to tailor the content of the app and brand to any individual hotel, the app is designed to offer an instant, yet tailored, digital concierge and room service platform.
Based on proprietary technology developed for Source’s consumer-facing concierge app, the platform enables hotels to offer a tablet in each hotel room, which can manage all concierge requests and food and beverage room service all though the digital app.
The content is also entirely tailored to each hotel, with the ability to display easily changeable menus, articles, offers, advice, tips and other materials to promote usage and sales. The app is designed to enable direct electronic communication between the guest and pre-identified areas of the hotel, based on requests from the guest submitted through different areas of the app. Hotel subscriptions are calculated annually on a per-room basis and the tablet for each room is offered at no cost.
James Crabb, founder and CEO of Source, said: “It is generally accepted that as more and more retail sales have moved online, the digital and mobile-enabled consumer wants online access for request-based services too. This app offers that instant solution in a manner that can both help save on staff costs but also actively generate additional sales.
“The technology created for our hotel app was a natural follow-on from the huge success of our consumer-facing concierge service, and we have already seen strong advance interest for the product.”

CHECK YOUR SOURCES
Former investment banker James Crabb has joined a growing list of City types leaving the boardroom behind to follow their entrepreneurial spirit. He has co-founded Source, a concierge mobile app targeted at the cash-rich and time-poor.
With a £200 per year fee, members can use the app to directly make requests to selected merchants – no matter how specific.
Therefore, the next time you don’t know which TV to buy, want to book a last-minute holiday or need to make a speedy apology with some flowers, the solution is just a tap away.
The Metro featured the following review, written by James Day, last Friday:
‘Source (iOS, free + £200 membership)
Oh, how the other half live. Source is a virtual concierge for those earning six-figure salaries with not enough time to search for things themselves. Pay a £200-a-year membership fee for access to Source’s elite, hand selected merchants, then use the app to message for whatever you want, such as: “I need a five-star hotel in Paris that accepts pets and has a pool” (a common requirement). You’ll then be contacted – and invoiced – for any services you use. Apply at source-lifestyle.com.’
